David D. Smith, PE
Mr. Smith is a Structural Engineer with over 30 years of experience in the design and
construction of structural steel superstructures. Mr. Smith has held numerous executive level
positions with Butler Manufacturing. In his last position with Butler Mr. Smith established the
Heavy Structures group that focused on the design and erection of large complex structures.
Projects completed under Mr. Smith’s direction had values of $250,000 to over $20,000,000.
In 1998 Mr. Smith founded SuperSteel Structures (SSS) and focused on the design and supply
of steel structures to a variety of independent general contractors. SSS customers encouraged
Mr. Smith to develop erection and fabrication capabilities leading to the formation of SBS Steel,
Inc.
Gerald Scott
Mr. Scott first started erecting steel at the age of twenty one working for his father’s company.
Mr. Scott now has over twenty years of erection experience. Mr. Scott went on his own twenty five
years ago and has been involved with projects with erection values of $20,000 to $8,000,000.
Mr. Scott’s previous company has completed work on a variety of high profile projects in the tristate area.
You will note that Mr. Scott has specialized in pre-engineered projects and has been involved
in many of the large clear span structures built in Northern New Jersey. You will find numerous large hangars and waste transfer stations among the project list.
Dexter Velasco
Mr. Velasco with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mapua Institute of Technology in the
Philippines has experience in structural & mechanical engineering both in the United States and
in the Philippines. Employed by TCGI Engineers Inc. 1993-2000 a multi-discipline engineering
consulting firm based in Makati City, Philippines. Mr. Velasco has been involved in design of
light gauge framing for SuperSteel Structures since 2002.
